Crunch time!

Boy have we been busy in Kindergarten this month! The kids are just about finished with learning their uppercase letters and are working on blending and segmenting basic (cvc) words in Fundations. In math, we have practiced counting by 1's, 2's, 5's and now 10's. We were surprised today by our Mystery Guest Reader, Mrs. McDonald! She came in and read us "Happy Birthday To You!" by Dr. Seuss in honor of Lydia's 6th birthday today.

We are getting very excited for our Day 100 celebration coming up on Wednesday, February 10th!

We will celebrate Valentines Day on Friday, February 12th. The children will get to bring in a special snack as well as deliver Valentines Day cards to all of their friends.

More information to come regarding both of these upcoming celebrations.

Hi-ho-hi-ho it's back to work we go!

Happy January! I can't believe how quickly the first few months of school have gone by! The children are back at it and hard at work. In Fundations, the children have now learned all of their lowercase letters. We are now beginning to work on learning our uppercase letter formations and reviewing sounds. The children are quickly becoming expert readers and spellers by beginning to segment and blend small (cvc) words. Ask your child to tap out some words for you! In math we are learning all about 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional shapes as well as continuing to explore counting to twenty and using ten frames to count and display numbers. Today, we read the classic folktale "The Mitten" by Jan Brett. The children are doing a great job with their story retelling as you can see from their wonderful illustrations below.
