On Friday the students were surprised with a visit from Curious Creatures, who brought along with them a variety of reptiles, mammals, amphibians, tarantulas, alligators, snakes and turtles. The students were able to learn about the creatures' habitats and lives in an up-close, hands-on experience. Check out some of our fun photos!

All about Eric Carle!
Over the past couple weeks, we have been doing an Author Study on Eric Carle. I tell my students that I love Eric Carle because he is both the author and the illustarator of most of his books. The children think it is really neat how he paints tissue paper to use for his illustrations. This week after listening to a read aloud of The Tiny Seed, The Grouchy Ladybug, and The Hungry Caterpillar, the students became artists themselves and created their own Eric Carle inspired artwork. They can't wait to share these with you during our Open House on Thursday, April 7th from 6-7pm!

Creative Writers
We are learning this year that good writers use various traits in their writing to make it the best it can be. During our read aloud of Go Away, Big Green Monster by Ed Emberly, we focused on the trait of Word Choice. We listened to Mrs. Granoth read the book and then discussed the many interesting words the author used.
We then made our own monsters and wrote about them using special words to describe their features. Look at all our creative monsters!
